Revisiting Blogmas Day 5 The Original Now Christmas Album Re-Play

I have a theory that you can trace the re-emergence of old Christmas songs year after year to one album, the original Now That’s What I Call Christmas. Yes, Spotify and other streamers have supercharged the process, but the Now album from 1985 set everything in motion as it re-introduced listeners to some of the classics from the past. For Blogmas 2022 I gave the album another spin and my reactions are at the link below.

Revisiting Blogmas Day 4 Christmas Pop Songs? Not Quite!

So, this is from Blogmas 2022 once again and is the companion piece to yesterday’s entry. Here you will find 5 songs that became linked with the festive season despite not having any snow, Santa or presents in the lyrics. Five great songs from five acts who cracked the Christmas Charts. Click through to the link below for a brief reflection on each and a link to the videos. Features Showaddywaddy, Paul McCartney, Slade, Toy Dolls and Freiheit.

Revisiting Blogmas Day 3 Christmas Pop Songs

You can just see it can’t you? Sitting in front of the fire with the trappings of Christmas all around you listening to Christmas Music of years gone by. Well, that’s what this entry was about. It features five of my favourite festive tunes, four of which feature on this year’s Spotify playlist which you can find below https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3fsewgO9DKykCZno06CgnX?si=691f8f958c194587

Revisiting Blogmas Day 2 A Christmas Carol and Me

Day 2 of this look back concentrates on my love for the finest story ever written, in my opinion at least. Although very personal in nature, it covers a number of areas that all Christmas Carol lovers will recognise. As an update to the final paragraph, I now have a DVD of the ballet and I have a copy of the first King Penguin book after the war, the 1946 printing of A Christmas Carol! The collection continues to grow.

Revisiting Blogmas Day 1 The Dickens Christmas Festival

Every year my Christmas starts in Rochester with The Dickens Christmas Festival. The 2024 Festival takes place on December 7 & 8. Find out why you should take a trip to Kent if you are near one of England’s most historic towns. The link in the article below has been updated so all this year’s details are available.
