Teabags

27/10/2026

What’s one piece of travel advice you always follow?

Whether I am going abroad or somewhere in the UK, the first rule, apart from taking my passport if it’s outside the country, is to make sure I have a good supply of teabags! One of two things happen in terms of tea. Either the teabags are fairly poor quality or there are just a handful. I will have four or five cups of tea a day at home, so I take along enough tea to get me through the holiday.

Here’s where it gets complicated though. In the morning it’s the traditional caffeinated version, any other time of the day it’s a decaffeinated version otherwise I don’t sleep properly. So, I take both types in separate sandwich bags. Luckily the two versions are different shapes so I don’t confuse them 🤣. Along with those I will also take Earl Grey teabags for a bit of variety, but they’re the same shape and size as the normal ones so I put a slip of paper into the bag! Oh, and last thing at night we will have Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time tea bags to help us sleep. Other sleep inducing teabags are available but they’re not as good!!

Wherever I am in the world, good tea is a non negotiable and as my wife sorts out my passport and travel details I focus on the important part of any trip!

One of the most English thing I have ever heard. And the thing is I do the same. I’d be worried about “making a fuss” if had to ask at the local shops of course.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 So true!! It’s impossible to face a holiday with no decent tea! Australia is pretty good. I really like the afternoon tea they do, but the American Lipton’s Tea is dreadful and in Europe it’s coffee central!
